The Social Aspect of the Maritime Industry

Our barbeque at the Center for Wooden Boats is definitely going to be one of my favorites. I enjoyed getting to hang out with my fellow interns and meet other interns from the Seattle Goodwill program. The day was hot but being out on the water made it a lot better and getting to see a nice view of Lake Union. The food was great and the DJ was playing some nice hits that everyone could get down to. My favorite part of the trip was being able to go swimming at Lake Union Park. It was very refreshing diving in and cooling down. I was able to sit down and talk more with the other interns and learn a little more about them than just their names and we got to talk about school and other personal interests that we share. There were many other program leaders at the barbeque that talked to us about various programs that could get us more maritime experience that I found very interesting and would consider joining. I think that the whole event was a success and many of the interns enjoyed their time there. The food and the music made for a perfect social experience and everyone was enjoying themselves and having a good time on the water. It was very nice to spend the day with other interns who were interested in maritime and wanted to explore it more as a career. The best part about the day was ending it off by getting on the “dancefloor” to dance to the only and only Cha Cha Slide.
